Annemarie van der Zeeuw
With a background in modern linguistics (Leiden University), I have worked as a language teacher and writing coach since 1981. In my teaching, I show authors how writing can be a pleasant, productive activity that supports their own thinking process, rather than something that blocks or paralyses it.
Teaching science writing is a job I greatly enjoy. I love the variety of topics covered in the course, the different linguistic levels of a research paper, and the engagement of my PhD students. For the AvL/NKI, my course follows a hybrid template: five e-modules and two real-life classes. The best of both worlds!

My educational background is in Egyptology, with a focus on linguistics. I am a co-trainer for the online course Writing a Scientific Paper, and responsible for developing and moderating the e-learning platform. The challenge of working with critical thinkers like master’s students and Ph.D. candidates keeps me on my toes and motivates me to constantly improve my skills.
